How to use Google search to find 3 letter acronyms in and out of specific forums

HeliFreak - FAQ: HeliFreak Forum FAQ (4)

You can even search specific forums, like the for sale area by quoting the exact forum name in the search as well. Like this:site:helifreak.com "trex 500" "Electric Helicopters - Only E-Helis"

Or if for whatever reason you find that for whatever reason (hypothetically) every Trex 500 you come across has a Hughes 500 body on it and you want one that's pod and boom, you can filter out the Hughes 500s by adding a "-" (minus sign) in front of the search term like this:site:helifreak.com "trex 500" "Electric Helicopters - Only E-Helis" -"Hughes 500"

How do I attach photos to a post and then show them inline in the post?
Excellent explanation of how to attach photos to a post and show the attached images inline in the post by TowPilot. Thank you TowPilot!!

I size the photos I want to post, usually max of 800 in either the vertical or horizontal dimension. Keeps 'em nice and compact to load quickly.
The HF site also compresses the photos when uploaded from what I can determine by the reduced file sizes after uploading.

I put the photos where I can navigate to them easily.

Then I scroll down below the reply window to the Additional Options area.
Click the Manage Attachments button.
Note: The Addition Options area may not display when replying, until the Advanced button is clicked...

HeliFreak - FAQ: HeliFreak Forum FAQ (5)

In the Manage Attachments window, click the Choose File button and navigate to the photos to upload, click to highlight one and click the Choose button.
Note: I didn't show the navigation windows because I am using a Mac and these windows would not be the same as an PC using XP.

HeliFreak - FAQ: HeliFreak Forum FAQ (6)

Each time you click the Choose button, you are returned to the Manage Attachments window.
Repeat choosing photo files, up to 4, then Click the Upload button.
Note: You can do upload a set of 4, then repeat the process again for a total of 8 photos in one post.

When the upload is finished, all the uploads are listed in the Manage Attachments window.

In the Reply to Thread indow, click to place the cursor where you want the photo to display in the message.

In the Message Attachments window, Right click on the file name of the photo in the Current Attachments list and select Copy.

How not to be "That Guy" at your local field
This was contributed to HF by Thrasymedes and he gives VERY good advice. Thank you.

I'm sure there would be different guidelines for different places, but I could give you some of my own personal ones.

First and foremost, approach is at least 50% of the outcome.

1. Don't be careless, practice smart saftey.
2. Dont crash carelessly or often.
3. Be courteous at all times, to the people and their flying.
4. When you pull into the field, set up shop next to the group, don't set up shop at the far end or an isolated spot.
5. Be sacrificial. Meaning you may want to occasionally give up a flight time you really want to let someone else enjoy the moment. This works well for all involved.
6. Never talk about another member to other members when he/she is not around. Keep it honest, face to face, and with intregrity. A good club is a very tight unit of friendships, it will come back around to bite you and it will create lasting tensions in the club.
7. Unless you have a mutual understanding, don't make a habit of telling people how they can improve their stuff if they didn't ask. It's their passion too, and while it may not be perfect, it's their best effort so respect it. Wait for them to ask your opinion, then give it.
8. The one time I try not to speak is after a bad crash; I usually don't say anything. I just walk with them and help them pick up the pieces. Believe me, this builds trust and appreciation.
9. When the club is having events, show up and give a helping hand, and do it without complaint.
10. Don't sweat the jerks, like life, not worth aknowledging or giving an effort. It all shakes out in the end.
11. Show an interest in what the plankers are doing; assist when a problem arises. This will help break down any potential barriers.
12. When noobs show up to the field and seem to be standing aside or reserved..... smile, nod, wave, shake hands, speak, do anything. Most people just want to be acknowledged. This will open their mind to coming and talking to you and the people you're with. Trust me, you will be respected for this, and one of the things you should look for the first time you pull up to a new club.

Sure there is more, but if you keep to basics like these and keep to "FUN, LEARNING, FRIENDSHIP AND MUTUAL RESPECT", you can't go wrong and you will not be "that guy".
